We’re back!

Well, it’s been over a year since our last post, but we are back – and back for good! A lot has happened in a year, and the Sustainability Planning process in Peterborough is well underway.

Given that many of us may be new to the concept of sustainability, I think it is a good starting point to establish a quick idea of what a Sustainability Plan is, and what it means for the Greater Peterborough Area (the City and County of Peterborough including its eight member townships, and Curve Lake and Hiawatha First Nations). In short, the plan will address environmental, socio-cultural, and economic issues and will set a collective vision for our community’s future. The specifics of what this means for the GPA in general and for you specifically will become apparent as the Plan moves forward, so don’t fret if this is a new concept! I have been looking at this as a tremendous opportunity to learn with the community, and hope you do too!

As the project’s Outreach Coordinator, you will soon be seeing me, James Knott, frequently throughout the community. Having spent over two years in Peterborough now, I have developed a strong connection with this community and am thrilled to be able to participate in the development of its sustainable future. Opportunities are fast approaching for you, all members of the GPA, to become engaged in the Plan’s development, offering your visions and ideas for our community’s sustainable future. Watch for upcoming events in the community that we will be attending, and be sure to check back on the blog soon! I will be updating it regularly with news on the Plan’s progress, updates from events within the community, and showcasing stories of sustainability from within the GPA and abroad.
